Rangitāne signs Tākai Here Agreement with Ara Poutama

Rangitāne o Wairau has signed a Tākai Here Agreement with Ara Poutama Aotearoa, the Department of Corrections.

The Agreement between Ara Poutama and ngā iwi o Te Tauihu establishes a strategic relationship, recognising the status of iwi, as well as the role and purpose of Ara Poutama.  The Agreement provides a mechanism to strengthen and further develop the partnership with a shared vision to improve the cultural, social and economic health and wellbeing of Māori that enter into the Corrections systems within our rohe.

The Agreement also establishes a governance forum and an operational forum to ensure the intent of the Agreement is met.

E te iwi, this is a new direction for us working in partnership with Ara Poutama and other Te Tauihu iwi on a shared vision and values.  The Agreement will be continually reviewed, as we begin to work together for the betterment of whānau Māori within our rohe.
