Engagement opportunity – Blenheim Sewerage Treatment Plant

Kia ora e te whānau

Rangitāne o Wairau, Ngāti Toa Rangatira, and Ngāti Rārua have been engaging with the Marlborough District Council in relation to the resource consent for the discharge of treated sewerage from the Blenheim Sewerage Treatment Plant. This process has been supported by the engagement of Tina Porou.

We would like to invite whānau to engage in this process at a hui to be held next Wednesday 6 April 2022. This hui introduces Council’s proposed consent application, and the process for consideration by tangata whenua iwi. The hui will include engagement with Council and their technicians. It will allow whānau to engage on initial discussions regarding the cultural and environmental impacts.

The hui will commence from Tuamātene with a site visit of the current plant. It will be followed by kai at Tuamātene and discussion with Tina and Council representatives. The site visit will take a minimum of 2 hrs from leaving Tuamātene at 10am, on Wednesday 6 April.

People should have warm clothing and sturdy closed-toe shoes (gumboots if it has been wet). Although relatively flat, the ground can be uneven in places if we exit the bus.

RSVP is required for this event. Please RSVP to admin@rangitane.org.nz for transport, logistics and catering purposes.
