CULTURE & LANGUAGE WĀNANGA – 20-24 February 2019

In preparation for Te Matatini 2025, hosted by Te Tau Ihu o te Waka a Maui, and, as part of the Rangitāne o Wairau Language and Culture revitalisation strategy we are organising a Culture and Language Wānanga for 15 iwi members to attend Te Matatini 2019. 

The aim of the wānanga is to increase interest, participation and practitioners of Kapa Haka in the Rangitāne o Wairau iwi. The rōpū will comprise of taiohi (youth), rangatahi (young adults), rangatakapu (adults) and pakeke (older adults) – minimum age 14.

The wānanga includes travel to Wellington, accommodation and meals.  Once our participants’ list has been confirmed, a pack will be sent out outlining our wānanga kawa, expectations, itinerary, accommodation, travel details etc. To support the financial factors for this wānanga, there is a $100 contribution fee per participant.
