Kia ora koutou,

Just a few comments on events…

We are currently auditing our health and safety systems to ensure the safety of participants at our events. As a reminder, we have a portable defibrillator available for Rangitāne o Wairau events which can be organised through the office. We are also currently restocking the first aid kits at Ūkaipō and Tuamātene.

Please note we are extending the closing date for Pou Kaiwhakahaere role applications. You can find the job description on our website https://www.rangitane.org.nz/panui/our-vacancies/

We are working towards getting our Rongoā Māori courses back on track and would appreciate some input on timing which seemed to be one of the issues last time, please contact the office by email or phone. These courses are held in association with Manaaki Ngāhere and are free for Rangitāne o Wairau members. The aim is to create our own rōpū who will not only be practising Rongoā Māori but also acting as Kaitiaki of our Rongoā plants in the rohe.

Other events coming up soon are a trip to Te Papa for our Kaumātua, and a working bee in the Maara Kai later this month to prepare for planting in early August.

Finally, please don’t forget we will be gathering for Matariki this Sunday at 6am, at the Wairau Bar followed by breakfast at Ūkaipō.

Mā te wā

Nick
