The Runanga a Rangitane O
Wairau is required to have a register of members or
beneficiaries. This allows us to provide a clear and consistent
framework for identifying, enrolling and maintaining contact with
entitled members of the South Island section of the Rangitane Iwi
or Rangitane O Wairau.
Membership is open to all those who are
descendents of one or more of the ancestors identified in the
Rangitane Tipuna List
as being resident in the South Island in 1896.
Services provided to our members currently
focus around representation, advocacy, and discrete cultural and
social services.
Members are able to access Runanga facilities
such as the Marae at
Tuamatene (Grovetown), The Runanga Hall at Grovetown, and
administration services from the Runanga Office.
